Coconut MCT

Coconut is an exotic fruit from the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera), a palm from the Arecaceae family. It grows mainly on the coasts of subtropical Asia and in Oceania. Coconut oil was neglected for a long time because it was too rich in saturated fatty acids, today it is experiencing renewed interest precisely because of its fatty acid profile. It is mainly composed of medium chain triglycerides (MCT).

MCTs are absorbed quickly in the digestive tract because they do not require bile or digestive enzymes to be metabolized. Therefore, they are a quickly available source of energy for the body. This is why they are interesting for athletes, people who have difficulty assimilating fat (pancreatic diseases, chronic diarrhea, premature babies) and those who follow a ketogenic diet.
